Established in 1989, Quest is
one of Europe's leading business information specialists, providing
technical leadership and expertise in the area of knowledge management
and enterprise systems. They asked me to assist them with accessibility concerns they had on their HGV.ie project, an on-line system commissioned by Dublin City Council, allowing hauliers around Europe to plan permits for their HGV Traffic in Dublin City Centre.
As a public-funded site, it was required that the site conform to accessibility standards. The skillset on the project consisted mainly of heavy-duty PL/SQL programmers working with Oracle Application servers. While they had done some research on making markup accessible, I was given the task of bringing the team up to speed with many of the modern techniques employed in a XHTML/CSS layout. After a couple of initial meetings to accomplish this, I was then brought in at key points in the project to assist in making changes and troubleshoot layout problems that had been encountered.
